The business world has transformed over recent years, arguably because of the internet. It has enabled the communication between companies on different sides of the world, and international trade and commerce has exploded.
One interesting development is that businesses can now hire freelance workers from other countries to do jobs more economically than could be done in their own country. Again, because of the internet, payment is made simply, as it is now easy to Transfer money abroad. Of course, outsourcing only works for some businesses. Many of these are internet based businesses, where a fluent understanding of English is not entirely needed. For web design, link building or programming outsourcing is perfect.
This does have some moral implications though. Taking banks for example, who have transferred their call centres out of England and to India or Africa, one can ask the question of does the bank have a moral obligation to provide jobs to the country which they do business in. Most would say yes!
As the standards of living rise around the world, it will reach a point where it will no longer be profitable to arbitrate work out to people in other countries, but for the time being, it is a valid way of doing business, and does offer a great deal of opportunities for companies who are forward thinking in this area.
